Juaboso-Bia HIA - Implementation and Monitoring report
In line with the goal of GCFRP, on-the ground implementation of GCFRP is routed through Hotspot Intervention Areas situated within the GCFRP operational area. The Juaboso-Bia HIA is the first HIA developed under the GCFRP, where implementation is underway with the support of a consortium made up of Forestry Commission, COCOBOD, Partnership for Forest (P4F), Touton SE, Agro-Eco, SNV and Nature Conservation Research Centre (NCRC).

| • The HIA boosts of Kakum National Forest which is home to more than 500 butterfly species, seven primate species, 253 species of birds including five hornbill species and 100 species of mammals, reptiles and amphibians |
| • It has established consortium made up of partners made up of reps from government institutions (FC, COCOBOD), District Assembly, Private Companies, Sub-HIA Executive committees, CREMA, and CRMC's. |
| • HMB is yet to be established. There are 1 SHEC with 17 membership, 7 CECs with 112 membership and 53 CRMCs. |
| • 35 CREMA CSC extension trainers were trained to provide education on climate-smart cocoa production. |
| • Initiated sale 3,000 kg of Kombo nuts in 2020 at 10 GHC per kg and secured orders for 13,000 kg of Kombo nuts for the 2021 harvest season to enhance social and economic safety net for local communities. |

Kakum consortium meeting
A total of 23 participants (9F; 14M) attended the 2020 Q3 consortium meeting. There was representation from institutions including the FSD, WD, Cocobod, DA, Ecom, Olam, NCRC and the REDD+ secretariat. Similar to earlier meetings of the consortium, various institutions shared progress of work in the landscape and up-coming planned activities.

Asutifi-Asunafo
| • Located in the Ahafo Region of Ghana, the Asunafo-Asutifi Landscape encompasses three administrative districts namely: Asunafo North, Asunafo South, and Asutifi North |
| • The total landscape area of 328,512 Ha, 62% is under agricultural production of which cocoa is a major component. |
| • Cocoa cultivation is the main socio-economic activity within the landscape, accounting for about 70-80% of the land-use under agriculture. |
| • The HIA accounts for about 10% of the national cocoa output. |
| • Forest is a significant feature in the landscape, accounting for 32% of the land area. |
| • Ongoing interventions aimed at cocoa sustainability in the Asunafo-Asutifi Landscape include the Mondelez-UNDP International Cocoa Life Programme, Touton Cocoa Rehabilitation and Improvement Project (CORIP), and the COCOBOD Cocoa Artificial Hand Pollination. |
